Welcome, I started JuztaHobby, LLC (publicly) in 2018. I had been using natural products on my fur baby Duchess for 2 years prior to going public. I will confess that my Snorkie Duchess and now Suzy (Rat Terrier, inherited Summer 2019 when grandparents passed) are the most holistic dogs I know. These babies eat all natural food, use natural shampoo and conditioners, eat natural treats, and their bedding gets washed in natural detergent (that I make).
A little about me (Melissa) the owner/creator. I am a registered nurse by trade for 23 1/2 years. I earned my bachelors degree in 2006 from the University of Central Arkansas (Go Bears!). I didn't know a lot about alternative medicine until I took a course taught by Dr. Sheila Stroman in 2004. She truly opened my eyes and sparked a fire in me to learn more about herbalism, aromatherapy, reiki, and other alternative therapies. One of the most interesting things I learned was looking at a bottle of shampoo and realizing that the lavender shampoo that I thought was natural and great was not. First of all, the shampoo ingredients didn't even list lavender and most of the ingredients, once looked up were carcinogens, WHAT???? a huge eye opener.
In 2016, our family moved to the country. Duchess was not used to all the little varmints and parasites (fleas, ticks, chiggers, etc). We were used to Duchess being in a controlled environment (city lot) and didn't have to worry about fleas & ticks. Moving to a 2-acre lot was heavenly for the entire family. The dog could run between our home and my in-laws and the kids had so much running space they could go on adventures every day. All of this "country" exposure played havoc on Duchess, my daughter, and myself. Duchess started getting fleas regularly. My daughter and I were getting mosquito bites almost every day. Country life was rough until I started researching and trying my own natural remedies. Bug Bite Soothe, Flea Tick, Mosquito Repeller, and Dog Shampoos were developed.
Our goal is to educate families about safe and natural ways to treat ailments. I feel holistic medicine is a calling and runs parallel with my nursing degree. In 2019 I became a Certified Aromatherapy Advisor. My hope for 2020 is to be a Certified Aromatherapist and Certified Herbalist. The added education will increase my knowledge base and allow my to grow as a natural healer.
I want to thank Downtown Conway Farmers' and Crafts Market in Conway, AR for allowing me the opportunity to share my products.
